Compreendendo o autismo: uma abordagem abrangente sobre o Transtorno do Espectro Autista

RESUMO

Este estudo objetiva-se por abordar aspectos fundamentais do autismo, desde sua definição e histórico até as características, etiologia (fatores genéticos e ambientais), e métodos de diagnóstico. Além disso, discute intervenções e tratamentos disponíveis, as implicações do Transtorno do Espectro Autista (TEA) na vida dos indivíduos e suas famílias, e o papel da sociedade na promoção da inclusão. São também evidenciadas as pesquisas recentes e futuras direções no estudo do autismo, defendendo uma abordagem interdisciplinar e a valorização da neurodiversidade. A pesquisa tem natureza exploratória e teórica e configura-se como uma revisão abrangente da literatura sobre o Transtorno do Espectro Autista. Trata-se de uma revisão narrativa e crítica, que consolida o entendimento sobre os principais aspectos do TEA para fornecer uma visão detalhada e atualizada do tema. Neste sentido, compilou-se, analisou-se e sintetizou-se informações provenientes de estudos e publicações existentes organizando o conhecimento em torno da discussão cita diversos autores como Bailey et al (1995), Baldwin et al (2014), Baxter et al (2015), Ciminelli et al (2018), Costa et al (2021), Dawson et al (2010), Diogo et al (2020) dentre outros autores, pesquisas e instituições como a American Psychiatric Association (APA), o National Autism Center (NAC) e a Organização Mundial da Saúde (OMS).

ABSTRACT

This study aims to address fundamental aspects of autism, from its definition and history to its characteristics, etiology (genetic and environmental factors), and diagnostic methods. Furthermore, it discusses available interventions and treatments, the implications of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) on the lives of individuals and their families, and society's role in promoting inclusion. It also highlights recent research and future directions in the study of autism, advocating for an interdisciplinary approach and the appreciation of neurodiversity. The research is exploratory and theoretical in nature and constitutes a comprehensive review of the literature on Autism Spectrum Disorder. It is a narrative and critical review that consolidates understanding of the main aspects of ASD to provide a detailed and up-to-date overview of the topic. To this end, information from existing studies and publications was compiled, analyzed, and synthesized, organizing the knowledge around the discussion, citing various authors such as Bailey et al. (1995), Baldwin et al. (2014), Baxter et al. (2015), Ciminelli et al. (2018), Costa et al. (2021), Dawson et al. (2010), Diogo et al. (2020), among other authors, research, and institutions such as the American Psychiatric Association (APA), the National Autism Center (NAC), and the World Health Organization (WHO).
