The present research has as reference the attempt to compose a history of indigenous children in what is now the current Far South of Bahia, in the composition of complex plots of what was the life of indigenous children in the 19th century in the south of the Province of Bahia, contributing to fill gaps and gaps in the studies of children and childhood in this region. Thus, we adopted a documentary analysis methodology in an evidentiary way, noting that the presence of indigenous children in what is now the current Far South of Bahia was intensely marked in processes of agency and resistance. Absences and gaps were taken as problematic in this study, being addressed with the following guiding questions: To what extent have absences and gaps in historiographical studies on indigenous children contributed to the perpetuation of prejudice and racism in what is now the Far South of Bahia? How can the construction of a history of indigenous children contribute to the construction of public policies for children and childhood? The work has the following objectives: a) to research the presence of indigenous children in the 19th century in the south of the Province of Bahia; b) analyze the circulation of indigenous children (kurukas) in the 19th century in what is now the extreme south of Bahia. As a methodological path in the elucidation of the problems and delimited objectives, the work operates with a qualitative approach, using document analysis, as well as the use of photographs and other images, operating with elements of ethnoprintography.
