Abstract

This article aimed to understand how the indigenous claim their historical presence, the socio-environmental intercultural relations on the banks and islands of the São Francisco River and how the water dam affected sociocultural flows with the construction of the Itaparica Dam. These analyzes and reflections were developed from studies, documents produced by Chesf and the memories of indigenous people and quilombolas through interviews, in the Sertão de Itaparica.
