The objective of this work is to evidence some imagery perspectives that were built on a daily basis on indigenous people since the arrival of Europeans in Brazil, in the 16th century and how such images circulate in the basic education classroom. To carry out the bibliography research, authors such as (ALMEIDA, 2010) about the place of indigenous in history, (POMPA, 2011) about the indigenous presence northeast, (VIEIRA, 2017) with the identity as cultural resignification question, (AMORIM, 2017) addressing the resistance and indigenous resilience in the upper backlands of Alagoas. For purposes of understanding the differences between theoretical and practical approaches in the classroom, we conduct interviews with middle and college level students through digital communication platforms (WhatsApp) which made it possible to list different approaches to the indigenous population in textbooks and in the discursive practice of teachers.
