Claims and resistance are present in the daily life of indigenous peoples, since in most situations and historical contexts they do not receive the support or visibility they deserve from society, especially when the issue involves their traditional law and cultural identities. In this sense, an attempt was made to describe who the indigenous people in Alagoas are, to present elements of their identities, in addition to showing how they are treated by the State, even after the changes recommended in the 1988 Constitution. Thus, the assumptions found in the books by Pessoa (2017), Gerlic (2011), Candau (2016) and Oliveira (1998) were used as theoretical bases, whose works highlight relevant information about various indigenous communities in Alagoas, based on their cultural aspects. and identities.
