The mandatory inclusion of teaching about indigenous history and cultures in Basic Education, according to Law N° 11,645 / 2008, contributes to discussions on indigenous issues, focusing on perception of the world and values of the students. The work of the teacher on the ground refers to introducing these contents to the disciplines, but also to discussing them in a broader perspective, for a reflective analysis of the place of the Indian in the History of Brazil. In this way, we will analyze the teaching practices and receptivity of students in the study of indigenous pueblos, from theoretical analysis and experiences in the school environment, contextualizing the experiences of indigenous pueblos, alternating between macro and micro scales. In this perspective, it is necessary to know about the construction of identity; historical processes; the disputes over memory and the construction of curricula, understood as fundamental to bring about an approach to the indigenous theme in the classroom. To make this discussion possible, we rely on authors such as Edson Silva, Maria da Penha Silva, Marcos Antônio da Silva, Selva Guimarâes Fonseca and Jaime Pinsky. Bibliographic research and qualitative analysis of teaching/learning relationships in Basic Education were used, in the state public network located in the city of Palmeira dos Índios / AL.
