This article reflects on the possibility of working on a discipline combining theory and practice. Here we present an experience report during the sixth period of the Indigenous Intercultural Degree Course in Pedagogy with the discipline Statistics applied to Education in Polo Sertão. Therefore, the objective is to present the results of research carried out by students in that class. The methodological approach applied in this experience report was descriptive, through field research using a semi-structured questionnaire and characterized by observation and participation of the students involved. The results showed that in addition to relating theory and practice in learning content, it created a more motivating environment for the students involved and made it possible to create a profile of students enrolled in the five courses at the aforementioned center. Furthermore, it allowed students to overcome challenges, enabling them to take the lead in their knowledge, as required by teacher training.
